The Labrdors was originally considered the all-purpose water dog. These dogs retrieved game and fish and was an asset to fisherman for things such as pulling boats through water. You can find this breed in black, yellow or chocolate colors. It was the most popular breed of choice in 1991 and held that title for years.

The Labrador Retriever is an obedient and amiable breed. It is very tolerable of children, other dogs and pets. It is able to be a playful yard dog, calm house dog, and intense field dog.It enjoys training and learning, is eager to please it’s owners or trainers and excels in obedience. Keep this intelligent breed occupied and busy to avoid possible behavioral problems due to boredom.
Upkeep and Health
The Labrador is an active and sociable dog. They require daily exercise and prefer this in the form of swimming and retrieving. If you own a pool be ready to share it with this breed or fence it off. This breed should be brushed weekly to remove dead hair. The Labrador coat sheds water easily. Although they can live outdoors in temperate climates, they prefer and are much happier indoors and being with it’s family.
