The origins of the Bichon Frise started with a breed of dogs known as barbichons. It's popularity fluctuated through the years barely surviving through history right up until World War II. It was not until it came to America in the 1950's when the breed became more secure and popular. Even at that time it really did not become popular until it's grooming was updated and it received more publicity in the 1960's.

Temperament

The Bichon Frise has a happy and perky attitude the endears them to all. It is sweet and affectionate and gets along well with children, other pets, and other dogs. It does not like to be left alone and prefers to be with people all the time. It likes to cuddle as much as it likes to play.
